Here it is once again. The toughest page to write always. I’ll start with the easy parts.
I love photography, so much so that I turned a lifelong hobby into my career. I will admit that I used to photograph strictly landscapes, but now, my favourite subjects are people – newborns, babies, children, families, pregnancies, mothers, fathers, grandparents – you get the idea. When I work with my clients, I do largely black and white portraiture in studio (as opposed to on-location), as the finished portraits tend to look more polished, elegant, and well, finished! However, I am known to sometimes take my subjects, especially toddlers, outside for some fun and sun so that I can capture their sprightly and active personalities!
As for some tidbits of myself unrelated to photography…I have a loving and supportive husband who means the world to me, two boys – Nathan, who is 3 years, and Matthew, a mere 3 months – two dogs, Oscar and Portia, and a tank full of fish! My household is busy but fun-filled and never boring. Prior to my career in photography, I went to U 0f T and got an English degree, after which I got my CFA designation, and then an MBA. I worked full-time in finance for quite a number of years before I took the leap of faith and started Macy Mills Photography, first on a part-time basis and now it pretty much encompasses my work life. I still work part-time in finance, but if you are curious about that, you’re going to have to call me to chat as I do not wish to bore the rest of you!
I am very active in general, though lately, I have not been doing as much as I find Matthew taking up most of my non-work free time. I take him out in my jogging stroller as much as I can, however. I am an avid runner, hate weights though I train just to keep in decent shape, love swimming, have a love-hate relationship with biking (though I quite like spinning), love cross-country skiing though have never tried downhill, love tennis but can’t play it well, and basically love being active (can you tell??). I have run a couple of marathons but would eventually like to do a half-Ironman. Maybe when I grow up, lol.
Enough about me yet?
