My husband once told me that he thinks I have the best job. He said, “I know of no other business where clients hug you after the job is done.” Family portraiture really is a very personal endeavour – I always tell prospects that first and foremost, they must only commission a photographer whom they like. In this regard especially, I feel very fortunate. I truly care for and like every one of my clients. It means so much to me that my clients trust me with something so important – those first photographs of a brand new baby, the first family portrait, portraits of their pregnancies…you get the picture (pun intended!).
I really believe that if you love what you do, then the rest will follow. To that end, the year started off with a bang as clients began booking non-stop (can you believe that the year is almost half over??). I am grateful, though I also recognize that I am human and have limits, and therefore need to ensure that I am not taking on more than I can handle. I do apologize to those of you whom I was unable to fit into my calendar. I am currently booking sessions for the last week of June, but I do keep a short wait list. I will also endeavour to post dates that become available on my blog here.
Another thing I want to address here is my lack of sneak peeks lately. I love posting previews, but the last 3 weeks have been extremely hectic. I was away and then my mother-in-law visited for a week. Though I have been working on client photos in the last week, I have not had a chance to post the previews. For that I apologize. It is not because your session meant less to me - rest assured!
On a different note, my baby is now already 7 months. I am hoping to be able to take a little time tomorrow to do a mini session with him. After all, as many of you have heard me say, this age is one of those golden ages – in my opinion, the time when a baby sits up but is unable yet to walk is one of the best times to photograph your baby in his/her first year. I have to practice what I preach! I just hope I’ll be able to find the time. I already have a long list of to-dos for tomorrow.
Nathan, my other son, is taking his first cello lesson on Monday. The kicker is that I’ll be taking lessons with him. Yup, a middle aged mother of two will be taking cello lessons as a beginner. I’ve always taken piano as a child, but I have to admit that the piano brings back certain memories that are not always pleasant (think about being forced to practice!). I have always loved how the cello sounds, and finally decided to just go for it. Of course, when Nathan saw my cello (which I purchased a couple of weeks ago), he insisted on having one of his own. So I went to Remenyi and rented one for him, enrolled him in lessons as well, and here we are!
To those who are reading my blog, I hope you’re not bored to tears yet, lol. I don’t share too many personal things here but because many of you who read this blog are my clients, I know you know where I’m coming from.
Until next time…..!
